WHAT'S MMU ALL ABOUT?

The Mastermind Unit is a non-profit organization that empowers individuals to take a leadership role in their community by organizing events that support a local charity of their choice. We seek to partner with motivated individuals who want to be a positive influence in their community. We will provide our partners with the framework, funding, and support to leverage their unique skills and experience to host an event that helps their community.  

The name and concept of the MasterMind Unit is inspired by Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, where he defines it as “the coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony.” Hill says that “no two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind.” The members of the MasterMind Unit challenge each other to create new ideas, achieve their goals, and help others. We serve each other as friends, advocates, and catalysts for change. 

WHAT IS SOCCER FOR A CAUSE?

MMU started out as an idea between a close group of friends who wanted to give back to a community that had given them so much growing up. They felt a need to pay it forward and started the Mastermind Unit as a means to fundraise money and donate the proceeds to a local charity of their choice. Growing up, soccer served as the catalyst for leadership, growth and staying out of trouble. So when it came time to deciding what fundraising vehicle they would use, hosting an annual soccer tournament was the most logical choice.

Since MMU's inception tournament in 2007, we've been able to bring hundreds of athletes, soccer enthusiasts, charity supports and key influencers together from all over the tri-state area to participate in a fun filled and competitive tournament that benefits the Michael Magro Foundation [www.michaelmagrofoundation.com].
